Episode 6
Welcome back to episode 6, I'm your host Jessica Laughlin and you are listening to The Creative Entrepreneur Society Podcast
In this episode, I want to Uncover what keeps you stuck.
So often, we resist following our ideas through and end up sabotaging our dreams instead.
Usually, this resistance is due to four (4) main things or 'The Four Cs.'
Courage, Confidence, Clarity, and competence.
Let's talk about what this means…
1. Lack of Courage:
The lack of courage, or being timid, often stems from some form of fear learned through experience or memory of some kind.
When you identify the source of your specific fears, this can help you to begin taking proactive steps to change this behavior and ultimately gain courage in any situation.
2. Lack of confidence:
Our fears and doubts cause us to lack confidence in ourselves and our ideas and hold us back from achieving what we want.
3. Lack of clarity:
If you don't know what you want to happen, how can you make it happen?
You can't!
You end up randomly doing things and not getting very far.
You have to know what you are trying to achieve or you constantly feel anxious, overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated, and confused.
And, lastly
4. Lack of competence:
Not having sufficient knowledge or skills to do what we need to do, therefore we end up procrastinating.
When we lack the “Four C’s,” it causes us so much resistance; it completely throws us off mentally and emotionally, causes us self-doubt, and ultimately we procrastinate.
(can you say Hello, fraud complex)
Therefore we hold ourselves back from playing big and showing up.
This resistance is not just at the beginning of the entrepreneur's journey but throughout the whole entire process.
Every time you level up, you will go through this again and again.
You will go through phases of feeling stuck and not making the progress you want, but it will always be due to some kind of resistance holding you back.
So, we have a choice to make; either:
Allow the fraud complex/negative committee to run the show and let resistance stop us from achieving our dreams
OR
Decide to overcome the resistance and not let anything stop us.
What will you do?
Ultimately, being an entrepreneur is like being on a roller coaster ride in the dark.
You will feel alone, and scared, there will be ups and downs, twists and turns, and you have no clue what's coming next, but you feel exhilarated.
You are smiling, even though on the inside, you have moments of thinking. "What am I doing?! Get me off of this crazy ride!"
While, yes, this journey is a crazy one, there's something we all have to realize:
Success is not an accident; it's something we have to create on purpose.
Every single one of us can do it.
Life is constantly nudging us to play bigger, share our message, turn our ideas into reality, and chase our dreams.
But, Are you listening to the call?
Clarity is an essential part of making your dream work.
Without clarity, your vision is lost.
Clarity comes with creating space to process, identify what matters, do one thing at a time, eliminate distractions or things that no longer serve you, and take fast messy action.
You can sit with your idea all day long, but unless you take it out to the world, you won't receive the validation that it's working.
Your plan will evolve, and this is a good thing.
You will keep perfecting it as you go.
I want to remind you that DONE is better than PERFECT, and your ideas are a starting point, not an end.
The fastest way to build your dream life and business is to be yourself, be kind, be authentic and ultimately take action to move the needle.
Don't try to keep up with the competition or anyone for that matter and what they are doing.
Everyone has their own unique personality, voice, and idea. Don’t copy how they show up but model what you like about them and make it your own.
It can take years to perfect it, and most likely, you will evolve and change multiple times.
Here is a little brainstorming exercise.
I want you to think about this:
* Who inspires you?
* What inspires you about them?
* What does their life look like?
* What specifically inspires you about how they show up, and what elements of their life, if any, would you like to experience in your life?
Now think about where your life and business:
* What does your dream business look like?
* What's your dream workspace?
* What's your dream home look like? Where is it?
* What places would you love to visit?
* How do you want your life to play out?
* What do you want to experience or incorporate into your life?
* Are there any business idols or people you'd love to meet or connect with?
* Anyone you would love to work with?
Write these answers out. When you write out your thoughts on paper, you are 50% more likely to make them a reality. Your brain is able to physically see what you want and you will be able to make a plan to make it become a reality.
What is it that you want to do?
Maybe you
* Do you want to write a book?
* Do you want to give to charity? If so, which ones?
* How much money do you want to make and when?
* How many customers, followers, fans would you like to have, and by when?
Go wild with your imagination here and have fun with it.
The more you start to open your mind to what is possible, the bigger your dreams will become.
Give yourself permission to dream big and get inspired.
The Magic happens when you are feeling inspired. It is an enjoyable and exciting time.
Get into it!!
